Katherine Hanson

Katherine Hanson is in her third season as an assistant tennis coach at Hofstra in 2018-19. Hansen joined the Pride staff in December 2016. 

Hanson played collegiately at Stony Brook, where she attained an NCAA Division I national singles ranking of No. 85. She was a two-time All-America East selection in doubles and helped the Seawolves win the 2012 America East Championship and advance to the NCAA Championship at Stanford. She also was an America East All-Academic Team pick as a senior and earned America East Honor Roll accolades on several occasions.

A nationally and sectionally ranked junior player, Hanson participated in ITF, national and sectional tournaments. As a student-athlete at Hauppauge (NY) High School, Hanson was a three-time All-New York State, a five-time All-Suffolk County and a six-time all-league selection. She was the New York State champion in doubles in 2007 and won the gold medal at the 2007 Empire State Games.

Hanson has served as the assistant tennis pro at the Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury, New York, since April 2013. Hanson previously had served as an instructor at Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point, New York. She has also served as a coach and camp counselor at the Adidas Tennis Camp in Stony Brook and as a junior assistant pro at Old Field Racquet Club in Setauket, New York. 

A 2012 graduate of Stony Brook with a degree in sociology, Hanson was four-time Dean’s List selection.
