Fred Lemongo was named the head women's tennis coach at Hofstra University in October 2025. The Cameroon native comes to Hofstra with over 15 years of coaching experience at all levels of the sport.Â
Prior to joining the Pride, Lemongo served as the head of the juniors program at the Country Club of Virginia to lead over 250 active junior tennis players during the 2024-25 season. At the Country Club of Virginia, Lemongo designed and implemented a comprehensive juniors curriculum, managed a team of tennis professionals, coordinated league play and special events, and oversaw all aspects of program administration.
At the Division I level, Lemongo served as the assistant men's tennis coach at Campbell University from 2019 to 2021. He played a key role in recruiting high-level athletes, developing individualized training programs, and managing team operations for the Fighting Camels.
Prior to his time at Campbell, Lemongo spent five seasons at the University of Louisiana Monroe as the assistant women's tennis coach. During his tenure, the Warhawks captured the 2017 Sunbelt Conference Championship and earned an ITA Division I national ranking of #50. Under Lemongo's guidance, ULM consistently advanced to conference tournament semifinals and produced multiple all-conference performers.
As a player, Lemongo competed as Cameroon's #1-ranked junior, won the ITF West and Central African doubles championship, and earned a top-25 African junior ranking. During his collegiate career at North Carolina Wesleyan University, Lemongo was a four-time regular season and tournament champion. He was instrumental in leading the team to reach the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 three times, in addition to appearing in the Elite 8. Individually, Lemongo earned his highest rankings of ninth in the Atlantic South region in doubles and 15th in singles.
Lemongo earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from North Carolina Wesleyan University in Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 2013.Â
