Andy Wetstein, MHA, ATC, ACi, is in his 12th year on the Hofstra Athletic Training staff and his third as senior associate athletic trainer in 2017-18. Wetstein, who oversees the Physical Education Building Athletic Training Room, is the athletic trainer for the wrestling and tennis programs.
A native of Flemington, New Jersey, Wetstein attended Long Island University-C.W. Post and graduated in 1995 with a degree in physical education. Â He received his masters degree in health administration from Hofstra in 2013.
Wetstein came to Hofstra after serving as the assistant athletic trainer for the New York Islanders (NHL) from 2001 to 2006. Â He has also served as a summer intern in 1994 with the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) and a seasonal assistant with the Eagles in 1995 and with the New York Jets (NFL) in 1996. Most recently, Wetstein was in charge of medical services for the 2016 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at Madison Square Garden that Hofstra University hosted.
Wetstein, who also served as the assistant athletic trainer with the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League in 2001 and as the head football athletic trainer for Long Island-C.W. Post from 1999 to 2001, resides in Nesconset, New York, with his wife Raenee and daughter Sydney (7).Â
