Scott Muggeo

Scott Muggeo was named head women’s golf coach at Hofstra University on January 28, 2019. Muggeo came to Hofstra after serving as the vice president of clinical operations - allied services at Professional Physical Therapy in Uniondale, New York.

During the 2021-22 season, Muggeo saw sophomore Savannah Weyrauch post two tournament wins and the team as a whole compile 14 top-five and 26 top-10 finishes. 

Due to COVID-19, Hofstra was only able to compete in three events during the 2020-21 season. During his first full season, a shortened 2019-20 campaign, Pride women's golfers posted one win (Cynthia Zhao), nine top five, and 20 top 10 finishes. 

Muggeo has more than 20 years of experience in athletic training and the sports performance industry. He began his career as an athletic trainer and later went on to manage the Sports Medicine Division at Professional Physical Therapy. In 2005, he became a partner at the Professional Athletic Performance Center in Garden City, New York, where he also served as the golf fitness director. In this position, he designed and implemented all the golf specific training programs, working with golfers of all experience levels. Muggeo also helped initiate the golf fitness program at the First Tee of Nassau County, where his programs had an immediate impact on the golfers as they showed improvement in their game after the implementation of the training regimen. 

He has been a featured presenter and speaker at numerous golf and fitness events. He has spoken to PGA teaching professionals on advances in golf fitness and most recently continued his work with the First Tee of Nassau County by coordinating the dynamic warmup and training programs for its members. He has also been a guest on Sirius XM’s “Doctor Radio” show, where he addressed golf injury prevention and treatment questions.

Muggeo is a Titleist Performance Institute level 2 certified golf fitness professional and a certified golf medical professional. He also is a National Athletic Training Association and New York State Certified athletic trainer as well as a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist.

A native of East Meadow, New York, Muggeo holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Binghamton University and a master’s degree in athletic training from LIU Brooklyn.
