Elise Fortier is in her first season as an assistant coach on Larissa Anderson's staff entering the 2016 season.
Fortier joins Hofstra after spending the 2015 season as a volunteer assistant at Florida Atlantic. Fortier played collegiately for two Division I programs, starting her career at Stony Brook before playing at Fordham from 2012-14.
Fortier coached under FAU legend and National Softball Hall of Famer Joan Joyce and assisted in practice planning and individual instruction. Working primarily with FAU’s hitters, Fortier was part of a staff that guided the Owls to an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament, where. FAU played Hofstra twice in the Gainesville Regional.
During a stellar playing career, Fortier started her coaching career by working as an assistant for the Rhode Island Thunder 18U travel team from 2011-13. She then helmed the Florida Power Black 14U travel team starting in 2014, where she oversaw budget planning and also offered individual lessons.
At Fordham, Fortier helped the Rams to back-to-back Atlantic 10 titles from 2013-14 and was the 2014 ECAC Player of the Year and the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. She hit .389 and tallied 20 home runs, 73 RBIs, 13 doubles and 35 walks. The shortstop from Coventry, Rhode Island posted a .495 on-base percentage and slugged .854. She set the Fordham career home run record with 46 in just three seasons. Her first collegiate season was spent at Stony Brook in 2011, where she garnered three America East Rookie of the Week awards.
