Dr. Thomas Barbaro joined the Hofstra men's golf coaching staff in November 2022, serving as a volunteer assistant coach trainee.
Barbaro, a member of the Garden City Country Club for 33 years, has qualified and played in three Long Island Opens, one New York State Open, three Long Island Amateur tournaments, several New York State Amateur tournaments, and one New York Mid-Amateur tournament. A Long Island Senior Golf Association member, Barbaro won the prestigious Jack Mallon Tournament in 2003 with partner Joe Elliott. He currently holds a five handicap but has been as low as a 1.8 index.
A board certified podiatric surgeon, Barbaro has been practicing podiatry since 1989. He is a 1984 graduate of Cornell University with a a degree in nutritional biochemistry. He earned his doctorate of podiatric medicine in 1988 from New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed postgraduate work from the college and its affiliated hospitals in 1989.
