James C. Metzger (Men's Lacrosse)
James C. Metzger was named a USILA All-American in 1980 after finishing second on the team with 49 points in only 10 games. He led the 1980 team in assists with 28 while also leading the team with 12 assists the season prior. Metzger holds the distinction of being just one of three Hofstra men's lacrosse players to record eight or more points in three games in a single season. His 4.90 points per game in 1980 ranks fifth all-time in program history and his 2.80 assists per game from the same season ranks eighth all-time.

In addition to his on-field success, Metzger has also played a vital role in Hofstra men's lacrosse through his contributions to the Hofstra athletic department.  He has been a frequent donor to athletic and academic programs at Hofstra, including numerous improvements made to Joseph M. Margiotta Hall through the Traditions Project, and renovations to the men's and women's lacrosse offices and locker rooms.

In honor of his incredible philanthropy towards Hofstra, the Stadium Building at James M. Shuart Stadium was renamed James C. Metzger Hall in 2012.
