Hofstra University Athletics

Built in 1970, the David S. Mack Physical Education Center has established itself as a showcase for volleyball in the metropolitan area. Home to the Hofstra volleyball team, the David S. Mack Physical Education Center is an 800-seat arena that was refurbished in 1978 with a new ticket lobby and refreshment area. Access roads and ample parking are located around the building. In 1991, new scoreboard with a message center were added to the facility. 

The David S. Mack Physical Education Center was resurfaced for the second time in 1995 with a wooden Thurst-A-Pad floor, which covers the entire 40,000 square-foot building and gives Hofstra the second-largest indoor wooden facility on the East Coast. The floor has been placed over the old synthetic surface and adds greater flexibility, thereby decreasing the chance of leg injuries.

• Square footage: 40,000 suqre feet
• Seating capacity: 800 seats with approximately 400 chairback seats. New bleachers were installed in 2019.
• Ticket lobby: Located at the main entrance
• Concessions: Located near the main entrance
• Curtains/cages: There are three curtains that split the room into four areas. There are also two batting cages in the north end that retract into the ceiling
