Smith was named a second-team All-American as a senior in 2000, matching the highest honor for anyone in the history of the program, and was a four-time all-conference and all-region selection. She finished her career as one of the top hitters and pitchers in school history, still holding the school record for hits in a career with 271, while ranking fourth in pitching victories with 71.

During her senior year, Smith helped the Pride to a 2-1 win over nationally ranked Louisiana-Lafayette in the NCAA Tournament by driving in both runs and earning the victory in the pitching circle, a win which helped Hofstra set a new school record at the time for wins in a season with 42. After graduation, she went on to play professionally in Europe and for the New York Juggernaut of National Pro Fastpitch.
