Gary Flood

#5 Gary Flood (Men’s Soccer)

Flood was the defensive leader of a Hofstra Pride program that won three consecutive Colonial Athletic Association championships from 2004-06. Flood was named the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2005 after helping Hofstra shut out #7 Old Dominion 1-0 in the championship game, the highest-ranked team that the Pride has ever beaten.

Flood earned first-team All-CAA and first-team NSCAA All-Region honors as a senior in 2006. He also helped Hofstra close out the 2005 regular season with five straight shutouts, the longest streak for the program in 35 years. His play at center back helped goalkeeper Matthias Gumbrecht shatter the school record for most career shutouts with 23, breaking the old record by 10. After graduating, Flood moved on to become the first Hofstra player to participate in Major League Soccer, as he played several seasons with the New England Revolution.
