Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra softball offense erupted for 10 runs and 13 hits as the Pride finished off the series and the 2026 regular season with a 10-2 win over Monmouth on Senior Day from Bill Edwards Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Hofstra caps off its regular season with a 29-21 overall record and a CAA mark of 21-3, the second-most conference wins in a season since winning 22 America East games in 2000. Hofstra also locks up the top seed in the 2026 CAA Championship in Elon, North Carolina with the win and UNCW winning two of three games against Campbell. Meanwhile, Monmouth's season ends with a 20-31 overall record and a 10-14 conference record.
After a lead-off walk, a fielding error, and a bloop single loaded the bases with no outs,
Chelsea Villar brought everyone home with a double to left center wall, putting the Pride on top 3-0 early over the Hawks. Villar added to her RBI tally on the day with another double, this time to right, scoring
Gabby Sultan all the way from first and making it a 4-0 score.
Kimmya Sims tacked on another two runs in the bottom of the third with a single through the gap between first base and second, and
Alanna Morse doubled Sims home to put the Pride ahead 7-0.
Monmouth launched back-to-back home runs in the top of the fourth to close the difference to five runs, but Hofstra responded with a three-run fifth inning to wrap up the game and the series.
Lily Yepez led off the fifth with a double and advanced to third on a single by
Victoria Frobosilo. After Frobosilo stole second base to put both runners in scoring position, Sims laid down a perfectly-placed bunt to score Yepez and put runners at the corners with an 8-2 score. Frobosilo scored on a sacrifice flyout by Morse to make it 9-2, and Sultan ended the game with a single to left field, scoring the speedy Sims from second.
Sultan and Yepez both tallied three hits against Monmouth in the run-rule win, followed by two-hit outings from Morse, Sims, and Villar.
Emma Falen picked up her 13th win of the season with three strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work, and
Jillian Locher picked up the save with no runs allowed in an inning from the circle.
As the top seed in the CAA Championship Hofstra receives a bye and will face the winner of #4 Stony Brook and #5 Charleston on Thursday, May 7, at 12 p.m.
