Roman Fleszar wrestled for Hofstra under Hall of Fame Head Coach Tom Ryan from 1996 through 2001 and is one of the most accomplished competitors in program history. A two-time NCAA Division I All-American at 133 pounds, he placed seventh in 2000 and fifth in 2001. Fleszar is one of just 10 wrestlers in program history to earn multiple All-America honors.

Fleszar was also a three-time NCAA Championship qualifier, a three-time ECWA champion, and a three-time New York State champion. He is one of 16 Pride wrestlers to earn three or more conference titles and one of two to win three New York State Championships.

He holds the Hofstra single-season victories record with 44 wins in 1998-99 and finished his career with 130 victories, ranking third all-time. During his tenure, Hofstra won 42 dual matches and were the 2001 ECWA champions.

Following his graduation from Hofstra with a degree in video/television in 2001, Fleszar joined the coaching ranks. He began at the Stillwater-Fredon Youth Wrestling Club in his native New Jersey before advancing to the college ranks as an assistant at Centenary College and then at Columbia University.

A well-decorated scholastic wrestler, Fleszar won two New Jersey championships at Kittatinny High School and was a three-time state finalist. He also was the Beast of the East Champion as a senior.
