Hofstra Puts Up 18 Goals In Win Over Wagner

Hempstead, NY - Freshman Shannon Steck tallied career-highs of five goals and two assists as the Hofstra women's lacrosse team topped Wagner, 18-1, Saturday afternoon at Captains Field.  

One game after a hat trick against #3 Maryland, Steck posted five of her game-high seven points in the second half in the Pride's wire-to-wire victory.

Freshman Meaghan Tufano equally was impressive, added a career-best three goals and an assist.

Nikki Mennella finished with four goals and Natalie DeMeo added a pair of goals and three assists.  The three assists and five points are career-highs.

Madeleine Rudolph dominated the draw circle, registering nine draw controls, one off tying her career-high against Marist earlier this season.  She also scored her first goal of the season.

The Pride (4-4) forced 14 turnovers.

Hofstra opened the first quarter with six goals and led 12-0 in the second quarter.  Wagner (0-5) got on the scoreboard with a goal from Amelia Logan with 1:09 left in the first half.

Notes
- The 17-goal margin was Hofstra's biggest of the season.
- All three of the Pride's goalkeepers saw action including Saoirse Feerick, who registered her first collegiate save in the fourth quarter.
- Hofstra is 9-0 all-time against Wagner.
- Mennella picked up her 25th career hat trick. She also has at least one goal in 17 consecutive games and at least one point in 23 consecutive games. 
- Steck has at least three goals in three of her last four games.  She scored two of the Pride's three free-position goals.
