Hempstead, NY – Fresh off a three-game trip down in Virginia, the Hofstra softball team returns to the tri-state area for a five-game stretch. The Pride will first travel to Connecticut for a non-conference doubleheader against Central Connecticut State on Wednesday before hosting Drexel in a CAA series from FSC Softball Complex at Farmingdale State College on Friday and Saturday, and from Molloy College's Bob Klein Field on Sunday.
Wednesday's doubleheader will take place at 1 p.m. and approximately 3 p.m., while first pitch on Friday will be at 5 p.m., Saturday's first pitch will take place at 2 p.m., and 12 p.m. will be the start time on Sunday. There will be live statistics for all three games, and the live video streams of all contests against Drexel will be hosted on FloCollege. The Pride swept Hampton in a three-game series on the road this past week to improve to 12-13 overall and 8-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association.
Madison Steppe picked up two wins with 12 strikeouts against the Pirates, while
Emma Falen pitched a complete-game shutout win on Saturday, and
Lily Yepez batted .750 against Hampton with six hits in eight at-bats, including a double and a triple, and two runs batted in.
Central Connecticut State swept a three-game series against Saint Francis to improve to 10-8 overall and 6-0 in the NEC, while Drexel took two of three against Stony Brook to move to 13-11 overall and 3-3 in the CAA. The Dragons will face Lehigh on Wednesday before its three-game series against Hofstra.
Hofstra is 10-4 all-time against Central Connecticut State and 82-19 all-time against Drexel. Hofstra swept the Dragons last season in Philadelphia, while Wednesday's doubleheader will be the first meeting between the Pride and the Blue Devils since a 12-6 win for Hofstra on March 17, 2013.
