Hempstead, NY - Teague Strobel and Gauge Shipp scored bonus-point victories to spark Hofstra as the Pride defeated LIU, 31-11, Monday night in an EIWA match at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. The Pride won seven of 10 weights to snap a six-match losing streak. 

Hofstra moved to 3-12 overall and 3-5 in the EIWA with the win. The Sharks dipped to 1-15 overall and 0-6 in conference matches.

Holding a 9-7 lead in the match, Strobel posted a 17-2 tech fall win over Sawyer Ostroff at 125 pounds to extend the Pride's lead to 14-7. The win ignited a five-bout win streak as Shipp followed with a fall against Carter Pack 17 seconds into the second period of their 133-pound match. That made it a 20-7 in favor of the Pride. Chase Liardi followed with a major decision over Amir Avazov at 141. Alex Turley rallied for a 5-4 decision over Tommy Bonasera at 149, erasing a 3-2 deficit with a late third period takedown. Frank Volpe ended the run with a 13-3 major decision against Luke Nieto to make it a 31-7 match.  

Matthew Waddell started the match with a 17-3 major decision against Jack Valentin at 174 pounds, while Will Conlon had a tech fall (19-4) over Kaleb Wright. 

Hofstra returns to action Sunday, February 15 when it hosts Harvard at 1 p.m. and Brown at 6 p.m. at the Mack Physical Education Center. 

Notes:
-Hofstra moved to 11-0 all-time against LIU.
-The six bonus point victories were a season-high.
-Shipp notched his 17th win of the season to tie for the team lead. 
-Conlon earned his first tech fall of the season.
-Volpe and Shipp each extended their winning streaks to three matches.
-The home match was Hofstra's first since December 7, 2025.
