Shipp, Slotnick Pick Up Wins; Hofstra Falls To Army West Point

West Point, NY - Gauge Shipp and Jake Slotnick scored tech fall victories for Hofstra, but the Black Knights of Army won the other eight weight classes in a 35-10 EIWA victory over the Pride Saturday night at Christl Arena.

After falling behind 24-0 after five matches, Shipp put the Pride on the board with a 17-0 tech fall win over Nain Vazquez at 2:50. Army would then win the next three matches before Slotnick closed the night with an 18-3 tech fall against Ryan Alvarado.

Army West Point improved to 4-5 on the season and 4-1 in the EIWA. Hofstra fell to 2-12 overall and 2-5 in league matches. 

Hofstra returns to action Monday night at 7 p.m. when it hosts LIU at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Tickets are available at HofstraTickets.com. 

Notes:
-Hofstra is 9-8-1 all-time versus Army.
-Slotnick won his third straight match and his 17th of the season.
-Shipp notched his 16th win of the season.
