Fairfax, VA – The Hofstra softball team suffered a 6-0 defeat to George Mason to begin its time at the George Mason Tournament in Fairfax, Virginia. The Pride slips to 0-6 to start the season, and the Patriots are now 4-3 after wins over Hofstra and FDU to start the two-day tournament.
George Mason scored three runs on three hits in the first inning, before adding to its lead with another three runs on one hit and an error in the second. After allowing Hofstra two baserunners on a hit and an error in the first two innings, George Mason allowed another four Hofstra players on base the rest of the way before the game concluded in the seventh inning.
Alanna Morse went 2-3 at the plate against the Patriots, while
Dahlia Palacio and
Nicole Cancel recorded one hit apiece, and
Chelsea Villar drew a walk.
Emma Falen went two innings and struck out two batters in the loss, and
Emma Brennan recorded a personal-best four strikeouts while allowing four hits and a walk in four innings from the circle.
Hofstra squares off with the Patriots and FDU on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. against FDU before facing George Mason at 12:30 p.m.
