Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Tennis Coach
Arielle Shuren announced today the two student-athletes who will serve as team captains in 2026.
Junior
Eñaut Garcia and graduate student
Hideki Matsuoka will lead the men's tennis team this season as team captains.
"Eñaut and Hideki earned their right to lead the team by consistently putting their teammates first and always leading by example, both on and off the court," Shuren said. "Their commitment and perseverance are qualities that embody what it means to be a member of Hofstra men's tennis."
A junior from Álava, Spain, Garcia is in his second season with the Pride and boasts 12 singles wins and 8 doubles wins during his sophomore season. He primarily played at the No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles spots. Garcia has been named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and to the Coastal Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic and Hofstra Athletic Director Scholars Honor Rolls.
Matsuoka, a graduate student from Tokyo, Japan, has played in over 35 singles matches and over 20 doubles matches during his career with the Pride, with 13 singles victories and 6 doubles victories. Throughout his time at Hofstra, Matsuoka has routinely earned ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades and been named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic and Hofstra Athletic Director Scholars Honor Rolls.
