William Thu broke the 800m program record with his 1:54.90 time at the 2026 Metropolitan Championship on Friday at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
Thu finished the 800m race in 4th place, while
Matthew Laudicina was 10th with a time of 1:58.88.
Noah Zeitzer led the Pride in the mile race with his 4th place finish and time of 4:22.86.
Callum Beach was 11th at 4:29.40 and
John Ortiz finished 23rd with a time of 4:38.71.
Ryan McAlea finished in 5th place in the 5000m race to led the Pride with his 15:08.11 time, while
Daniel Torrillo was 6th at 15:10.34, and
Alex Walsh finished 10th with a time of 15:46.52.
Danny Haddad finished the 3000m race in 15th place with a time of 9:49.02 and
Sameer Grewal was 23rd at 53.15 in the 400m dash.
Zach Daudelin recorded a throw of 11.02m to place 20th in the shot put, while freshman
Evan Papadopoulos was 24th with a 8.77m mark.
Arnario Briggs-Garcia and
Steiger Devil competed in the 200m dash and finished in 33rd and 43rd place with times of 23.00 and 23.30, respectively.
As a team, Hofstra finished in 9th place with 17 points, while Rowan University took the team title with 185 points.
The Hofstra men will return to the track on Friday, February 6, for the Fastrack National Invitational from Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
