Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Head Athletic Trainer Evan Malings announced today the appointment of
Shannon Quinton to the position of assistant athletic trainer. Quinton will work with the Pride's field hockey and softball programs. She previously worked with the Hofstra athletic training program as an athletic training student from September 2023 until her graduation from Hofstra in May 2025 with her master's degree in athletic training.
"We're thrilled to welcome Kira to Hofstra full time and bring our area to full strength," Malings said. "Shannon has the familiarity with our area and how we operate, and she stood out with her experience. We feel she's going to be a great addition to our staff."
Quinton primarily worked with the Hofstra women's soccer and men's lacrosse programs, and she assisted in all athletic training efforts at the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals, hosted by Hofstra. She also worked at Excel Sports Performance Academy in Kings Park since January 2024, where she provided medical coverage for youth and adolescent athletic events, and assessed and managed injuries and medical conditions, and she assisted in the athletic training areas at Nassau Community College and Kellenberg Memorial High School during her time as a student at Hofstra.
Quinton received her bachelor's degree in human biology and public health from the University at Albany in May 2023. While at UAlbany, she worked directly with the football program as a student worker. Quinton is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, and she has her New York State basic EMT certification.
