Poughkeepsie, NY - The Hofstra men's outdoor track and field team had a program record setting day at the Vassar Spring Invite in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Saturday. The Pride set new school records in the 4x100m relay (46.37) and 4x400m relay (3:42.52), while multiple athletes recorded personal record times.
Hofstra set relay program records and earned fourth place finishes in both the 4x100m and 4x400m races with times of 46.37 and 3:42.52, respectively. The highest finisher for the Pride was
John Ortiz, who recorded a personal best time of 4:05.79 in the 1500m race to finish in third place. In the 5000m race,
William Thu led Hofstra to finish third with his personal best time of 15:13.89.
Alex Walsh was behind Thu at 15:48.16 to finish 9th.
Zachary Daudelin came in fourth in the shot put event with his mark of 10.39m, while
James Watterson was fifth at 9.12m.
Adam Gordon finished 7th in the long jump with a mark of 6.13m, while
Greg Franzetti came in 12th place at 5.40m.
Sameer Grewal was 18th in the 400m race at 52.71, while
Cade Jaipaul recorded a personal best time of 55.14 to finish 23rd. In the 200m race,
Alec Padron finished 27th at 23.80 and
Steiger Devil was 32nd at 24.32.
The Pride are back in action for the West Point Twilight at Shea Stadium in West Point, New York, on Thursday, May 8.
