Successful First Day Of Competition At CAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

Virginia Beach, VA - The Hofstra men's indoor track and field team had a successful first day of competition at the Coastal Athletic Association Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship from the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Going into the second day of competition, the Pride are in 6th place with 11 points. Monmouth leads the pack with 53 points, while Northeastern, William & Mary, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T round out the top five. 

William Thu ran a personal best time of 4:18.02 in the men's mile preliminary race to place 12th of 16 total runners and qualify for the final race on Thursday at 12:10 p.m. Northeastern's Benjamin Godish took first place in the preliminary race with a time of 4:09.53.

In the 200m preliminary race, Alec Padron finished in 14th place with a time of 23.94. His time did not qualify for the final 200m race on Thursday. 

Abraham Longosiwa and Zach Van Houten finished in third and fourth place in the men's 5000m final with times of 14:09.29 and 14:23.65. Northeastern's Benjamin Godish took first at 13:57.24 with William & Mary's Hayes Trapp following with a time of 13:59.62. Up next for Hofstra was Daniel Torrillo who placed 10th with a time of 14:47.47, while Brian Beck came in 19th place at 15:44.45.

The Hofstra men's indoor track & field team will return to conference competition on Thursday, February 27, for the second and final day of the CAA Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship for the mile and 3,000m races.
