Hofstra Falls To Drexel On Senior Day

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University wrestling team closed out their home schedule with a 36-0 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association loss to Drexel Sunday evening at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center. Hofstra dipped to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in the EIWA with the loss. Drexel moved to 11-9 overall and 6-1 in conference action.

The Pride celebrated Senior Day before the match with Dylan Acevedo, Justin Hoyle, Joe Russo, Kyle Mosher, Ross McFarland, and Nikolas Miller recognized for their contributions to the Pride program. 

Hofstra could not come away with a win despite several matches being extremely close. Chase Liardi lost a one-point decision, 4-3, to Kyle Waterman at 133 pounds. Noah Tapia lost in sudden victory at 149 pounds to Dom Fidora, 4-1, as the Drexel wrestler was able to secure a takedown in the extra period. In a matchup of two nationally ranked wrestlers, InterMat #33/Flo #23 Giuseppe Hoose posted a 4-1 victory over Flo #24 Ross McFarland in sudden victory as well. 

Hofstra will return to action next Sunday at the Patriot Last Chance Open at George Mason University.

-Hofstra is 19-22 all-time against Drexel.
-Hofstra was 3-3 at home in 2024-25.
-The shutout loss was Hofstra's first of the season.
