Bethlehem, PA - Teague Strobel and Joe Sparacio picked up a pair of wins, while Zach Reilley upset a nationally ranked wrestler in Hofstra's 0-2 afternoon at Journeymen Wrestling's Wranglemania at Freedom High School. The Pride opened the day with a 24-17 loss to Duke and followed with a 24-15 loss to Appalachian State. 

Hofstra dropped to 0-2 on the season. Duke is 2-1, while Appalachian State is 1-1. 

Strobel, wrestling at 125 pounds, started the Duke match strong with a 20-3 tech fall over the Blue Devils Riley Rowen. Gauge Shipp followed with a first period fall over John King at 133 pounds. Sparacio then posted a 5-2 decision over Ray Adams at 141 to put the Pride up by a team score of 14-0. Duke would win six of the final seven weights to take the win. Jake Slotnick was the lone Pride victor down the stretch as he rallied for an 8-6 win at 165 pounds over Logan Richey. 

Against the Mountaineers, Strobel again started the Pride off with a win. He scored a takedown in overtime to earn the 5-2 sudden victory nod over Colby McBride. Appalachian State won at 133 before Sparacio notched his second win, a 4-1 decision over Joe Fongaro in sudden victory. Reilly then picked up his biggest win as the red-shirt freshman earned a fall over Kaden Keiser, who is ranked No. 28 by FloWrestling and No. 33 by InterMat at 149 pounds. Jurius Clark (174 pounds) also had a win for the Pride, 3-2 over Colt Campbell. 

Hofstra returns to action Sunday at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic at Liberty High School in Bethlehem.
