Kipkosgei Claims NCAA Northeast Regional Individual Title To Qualify For National Championship

Contoocook, NH - Hofstra men's cross country freshman Freddie Kipkosgei added to his excellent freshman season with a first-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship Friday afternoon from the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire. 

Kipkosgei claimed the individual title and crossed the finish line with a time of 29:12.7 to qualify for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 22 from Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri.

Based on available records dating back to 2002, Kipkosgei is the first freshman to win the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship. Additionally, he is the first Coastal Athletic Association runner to qualify for the NCAA Championship since Northeastern's Benjamin Godish in 2023 and is the second Pride runner to win the Northeast Regional Championship, following Alex Masai's 2019 win.

Freshman Abel Kipkemboi crossed the finish line with a time of 30:45.0 to place 64th out of the 263 runner-field. Senior Abraham Longosiwa finished with a time of 30:53.8 to place 74th, while Jason Kerber was 85th with a time of 31:00.5. Daniel Torrillo finished in 100th place with a time of 31:10.6, Noah Zeitzer was 119th with a time of 31:26.7, and William Thu finished with a time of 31:35.9 to place 131st. 

The Pride recorded their best team finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in program history, finishing in 10th place out of 38 competitors with 325 points. Syracuse won the NCAA Northeast Regional team event with 32 points, while Iona came in second.
