Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Women's Tennis Coach Fred Lemongo announced today that senior
Sabira Mohamed and junior
Ava Veneziano will serve as team captains for the Pride during the 2025-26 season.
"Sabira and Ava leading the team together will certainly help us move in the right direction and keep the team accountable," said Lemongo. "Sabira will make a great captain, as she leads by example and the team looks up to her. Ava has a strong voice, works extremely hard, and a leadership position will help her reach new heights on and off the court."
Mohamed, a senior from Old Westbury, New York, has played in over singles and doubles matches for the Pride. In her career at Hofstra, Mohamed has earned over 20 singles and doubles victories. She has repeatedly been named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and to the CAA Commissioner's Academic and Hofstra Athletics Director Scholars Honor Rolls throughout her time at Hofstra.Â
A junior from Roslyn, New York, Veneziano has played in over 20 singles and doubles matches at Hofstra. She is a multiple time ITA Scholar-Athlete selection and has been named to both the CAA Commissioner's Academic and Hofstra Athletic Director Scholars Honor Rolls repeatedly during her time with the Pride.
