Hofstra Blanks FDU, Extends Undefeated Streak To Six

Hempstead, NY - Ellie Gough had a goal and an assist, and the goalkeeping tandem of Mackenzie Sullivan and Synne Danielsen combined for five saves as Hofstra blanked FDU, 3-0, Thursday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The Pride had three different goal scorers and six players in total record points. 

Hofstra snapped a string of two straight draws to move to 2-0-4 on the season. The Knights remained winless on the year, dropping to 0-3-4.

The Pride's Dagny Run Petursdottir opened the scoring at the 36:02 mark, taking a cross from Gough and tapping it inside the far post for a 1-0 lead. Millie Davies, who sent the ball to Gough was also credited with an assist. Gough made it a 2-0 game at 62:35, taking a pass from Aimee Hodgson just outside the 18-yard box and dribbling a few yards before unleashing a shot into the upper left corner. Fifteen minutes later, Mathilde Braithwaite broke down the right side, drawing keeper Rosemarie Leblanc out of the goal, before sliding a pass to Margaret Peterson, who tapped the ball into an empty net with her right foot to cap the scoring. 

Sullivan made three saves in the first half, while Danielsen started the second half and made two stops. Leblanc had eight saves for the Knights, including several point blank stops.

Hofstra returns to action Sunday in its final non-conference game of the season at Dartmouth. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra moved to 10-0-1 all-time against FDU. 
-Gough's goal was her team-leading second of the season.
-The three goals were a season high for the Pride.
-Hofstra held a 19-14 advantage in shots, while each team took five corner kicks.
-The Pride is 2-0-2 at home this season and 8-2-2 in their last 12 home games.
