Six Pride Programs Earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics had six programs honored with NCAA Public Recognition Awards, it was announced by the organization recently.

The Hofstra men's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, and women's track & field squads all earned the recognition. All six programs earned perfect scores of 1,000. 

The NCAA Public Recognition Award goes to teams earning multi-year Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sport. 

"We are incredibly proud of the work our student-athletes and staff continue to do as it relates to APR," mentioned Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "This is a total team effort and everyone plays a role in our success here and I applaud all of those involved who assist our student-athletes in their academic endeavors."

Hofstra was the lone CAA men's basketball school to earn the NCAA Public Recognition Award. 

Five additional programs had scores over 990, including: women's soccer, volleyball, wrestling, men's lacrosse, and women's tennis.
