Hofstra Drops Final Regular Season Game

Mt. Pleasant, SC – The Hofstra softball team's final game of the 2024 regular season ended in an 8-0 defeat in five innings to hosts Charleston on Sunday from Patriots Point Complex. Hofstra's record now stands at 21-24 and 17-10 against CAA opponents, and Charleston ends its season with a record of 10-39 and a 4-23 mark against league opponents.

Following a scoreless first inning for both sides and a three up, three down second inning for the Pride, Charleston got on the board through a missed force out at first with the bases loaded, scoring a run from third to make it 1-0 to the Cougars. Charleston furthered its lead over the visitors with a four-run third inning, followed by a three-run fourth inning to push the lead to eight.

Hofstra was held to two hits against Charleston in Sunday's series finale, with Alanna Morse and Nicole Cancel both collecting base knocks against the Cougars. Annabella Pisapia and Marisa Ogden both pitched 2.0 innings against Charleston, with Pisapia getting the start.

With Hofstra's loss to Charleston and other results on the final day of the CAA softball schedule, Hofstra slots in as the #6 seed for the 2024 CAA Championship, and the Pride will open the four-day, double-elimination tournament against #3 seed Stony Brook. The two Long Island rivals will square off on Wednesday, May 8, at 2:30 p.m. from Boseman Field in Wilmington, North Carolina.

NOTES:
-Hofstra's all-time record versus Charleston now sits at 18-9.
-Cancel's hit, a double, was the first extra-base hit of her Hofstra career.
