Norfolk, VA - The Hofstra men's tennis team defeated opponent Norfolk State 4-3 Tuesday afternoon after the Pride earned two wins by default to secure the win. At No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles the Pride earned wins by default. With the win, Hofstra moves to 4-8 on the season, while Norfolk State drops to 5-6 overall.
The Pride earned the doubles point early after a 6-0 win from
Ostap Kovalenko and
Jonathan Mahrt Guyou at the #2 doubles slot and in #3 doubles facing no players to give Hofstra's
Josh Reynolds and
Maxim Michaels the win.
In singles play,
Ostap Kovalenko defeated Norfolk's Deniz Okyay 6-1, 6-4, while
Kaita Odani earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 5 singles slot.
The Pride are back in action on Thursday, March 21 in Richmond, Virginia to face the Richmond Spiders.
