Kaita Odani's straight set win at No. 6 singles clinched a 4-3 victory for the Pride over Marist Sunday night in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Hofstra moved to 1-2 on the season with their first victory. Marist slipped to 1-3 with the loss.
Marist won the doubles point, while
Matthew Garcia and
Vincent Turina posted a 6-1 win at the No. 2 doubles flight.
Garcia's 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles would even the match for the Pride.
Ostap Kovalenko defeated Alejandro Casteneda 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1. Turina won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5, and Marist tied it up with a win at No. 2 singles. Odani defeated Nick Koulisis 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 to secure the win for the Pride.
Hofstra will return to action Thursday, February 8, for a 10 a.m. match against St. John's in Queens, New York.
