Chidambaram Named Assistant Director of Broadcast Productions

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Raj Chidambaram to the position of assistant director of broadcast productions. Chidambaram will be primarily responsible for engineering the broadcasts for all Hofstra home athletic events and assisting Assistant Director of Athletics for Broadcast Productions Kevin Dexter in day-to-day broadcast operations and responsibilities.

"As our partnership with the Herbert School continues to grow, we welcome Raj to our team of broadcast professionals," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "Raj possesses a wide array of technical expertise in the field and his addition will further enhance the quality of our productions."  

Chidambaram brings a wealth of professional experience with him into his new role at Hofstra. He has been a freelance technical director, graphics coordinator, and score bug operator for a variety of networks, including ESPN, CBS, and FOX, since 2018. His recent career highlights include technical directing national live sports, the NBA 2K League, Halo HCS Atlanta, and engineering an E-sports tournament for the US Navy at Pearl Harbor during the 4th of July.

Chidambaram is a double graduate of Hofstra University; he earned his bachelor's degree in film/TV production in May 2018, and graduated with his MBA in marketing in May 2020. As a student at Hofstra, Chidambaram was a producer for Pride Productions from September 2018 until May 2020, producing live, multi-camera academic and athletics events at Hofstra, and overseeing all technical aspects of each broadcast.

"The highlight of my time here when I was with Pride Productions was working with and teaching the undergraduate students the technical side of live sports production", Chidambaram said. "I am excited to build this burgeoning department with that same goal in mind."
