Las Vegas, NV - Kyle Mosher advanced though the consolation bracket at 165 pounds, including picking up a ranked win, and guaranteed himself a top-8 finish as Hofstra wrapped up day one competition at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Friday night. Mosher is the lone Pride wrestler left standing after two sessions and will compete again Saturday in the consolation round of 4 against Drake Rhodes of South Dakota State. The action gets underway at 1 p.m. (EST).

Mosher dropped his championship bracket round of 16 match to the two-seed, No. 7 Sammy Sasso of Ohio State, 8-3, and followed that with a 11-7 win over Wyoming's Cooper Vorhees in the consolation round of 16 #2. The graduate transfer from Columbia then picked up his best win in a Hofstra singlet with a 6-3 sudden victory decision over 17th-ranked and the seventh seed Maxx Mayfield of Northwestern. Trailing 3-2 late in the third, Mosher earned a stall point to send the match into the extra period before scoring the take down a little more than midway through. He then earned a spot in the round of four due to a medical forfeit.

The Pride saw Jurius Clark (157) and Ross McFarland (184) advance through the first round of the championship bracket before getting eliminated later in the day. Clark won by fall over Sasha Gavronsky of West Virginia in a round of 32 match before dropping his round of 16 match against sixth-ranked and third-seeded Ryder Downey of Northern Iowa, 12-0. Clark then lost his consolation round match to Cal Poly's Legend Lemar, 5-0, to conclude his tournament.

McFarland, the No. 29 ranked wrestler in the nation and the No. 9 seed, opened his day with an 18-7 major decision over Logan Eller of Appalachian State. He then took on Ohio State's Seth Shumate in the round of 16, losing a tough 5-4 decision against the No. 8 seed. McFarland was awarded a takedown as the clock ran down in the third period which would have given him the win. However, after review, it was deemed to have come after time expired. The Hofstra graduate student then bowed out with a 4-2 loss to Northwestern's Jon Halverston in the consolation bracket.

Chase Liardi (133) also advanced to the consolation round of 8 #1 in session one.
Liardi dropped a 9-6 decision in his first match against Stockton O'Brien of Wyoming and then earned a 7-3 win over Santino Sanchez of CSU Bakersfield in the consolation bracket. He closed his tournament run with a 10-2 major decision loss to 10th-seeded Reece Witcraft of Oklahoma State.
