Owls Visit Pride For Sunday Matinee

12/13/2024 8:21:00 AM

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will play its final home game of the non-conference slate and its final game before the break for final exams when the Pride hosts Temple on Sunday. The game is being presented by Hofstra Hillel and will serve as the program's Jewish Heritage Day.

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 12 p.m.

As part of Jewish Heritage Day, there will be a Hofstra Hillel t-shirt toss with Hofstra in Hebrew on the shirt during one of our in-game t-shirt tosses. In addition, fans who wear a football jersey to the game will receive a free ticket.

For ticket information visit HofstraTickets.com, call (516) HOF-TIXX, or visit the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office in the lobby of the Mack Sports Complex during normal business hours.

The game will air on MSG Network and FloCollege, and WRHU (HAWC) will have an audio-only broadcast available. Links to all, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra has won three consecutive games to improve to 8-3 this season. The Pride most recently dispatched of Norfolk State, 80-67, on the road on Monday night. Cruz Davis and KiJan Robinson each tallied 20 points in the victory as Hofstra ended Norfolk State's 18-game home court win streak.

Temple is 5-4 this season. The Owls defeated Holy Family, 110-81, on Tuesday evening. Zion Stanford had 25 points while Jamal Mashburn Jr. added 23.

The Pride and the Owls have a pair of common opponents this season as both squads defeated Massachusetts and lost to Florida State. Temple has also already played CAA schools Monmouth and Drexel.

Sunday will be the 19th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Temple. The Owls lead the series, 12-6. Despite having met 18 times this will mark the first meeting between the teams since the 1981-82 season. The schools were conference rivals in both the Middle Atlantic Conference and the East Coast Conference from 1969-70 to 1981-82. The first-ever meeting occurred during the 1964-65 season and Hofstra's most recent victory in the series was a 50-49 win on February 6, 1980.
