Hofstra Rally Falls Short In CAA Semifinals

West Long Branch, NJ - Hofstra made a second half run, scoring twice to make it a 3-2 game. However, the Pride could not get the equalizer and Monmouth would add a fourth goal with 36 seconds left to take a 4-2 victory in the Coastal Athletic Association Semifinals at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn Sunday afternoon. Monmouth, the top seed, advances to the championship game for the second season in a row.

Hofstra, the fourth seed, sees its season end with a record of 8-4-6. Monmouth improves to 12-2-5 with the victory.

Summer Reimet scored a pair of first half goals to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead at halftime. Loren Gehret made it a 3-0 game 16 minutes into the second half off a pass from Liza Suydam. Hofstra responded off a set piece as Louise Hayden headed in a Millie Davies corner kick at the 66:39 mark. Davies would make it a one-goal game at 81:01 with a long strike over the top of keeper Cassie Coster to make it 3-2.
