Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra wrestling team opened its dual match schedule on Saturday, November 16, with two wins in three matches from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex in the Hofstra Quad. The Pride opened the day with a 21-12 victory over Duke, giving Jamie Franco his first dual win as head coach of the Hofstra wrestling team, and they won, 33-12, over Sacred Heart to conclude the day. The Pride also wrestled against The Citadel, but the Bulldogs won, 28-6.
 
Hofstra is now 2-1 in duals on the year, while Duke is 1-3, The Citadel is 2-1, and Sacred Heart is 1-5.
 
Ross McFarland won all three of his matches at 184 pounds, including an 8-2 decision win over The Citadel's Billy Janzer, ranked #26 in his weight class by FloWrestling and #28 by InterMat Wrestling. Justin Hoyle also went 3-0 on the day at 141 pounds, while Chase Liardi scored a decision win against Duke and a major decision win against Sacred Heart at 133 pounds, and Noah Tapia claimed decision wins against Duke and Sacred Heart at 149 pounds.
 
The Pride continues its dual meet schedule with a trip to #5 Ohio State on Sunday, November 24, at noon.
 
NOTES:
-Hofstra improves to 2-1 all-time against Duke, 3-1 all-time against The Citadel, and 15-0 all-time against Sacred Heart in dual matches.
-Kyle Mosher won by fall 16 seconds into his match against Sacred Heart's Dakota Asuncion. It was his first win by fall as a Hofstra wrestler.
