Hempstead, NY – Holding a one-point lead over LIU, the Hofstra wrestling team won the final two matches to seal a 22-14 win over the Sharks in Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association competition on Alumni Day. Hofstra won six of the 10 matches as the Pride (7-3, 2-0 EIWA) upped its winning streak to four consecutive matches.
 
After dropping the opening 184 pound match by 9-5 decision, Hofstra won the next five weight classes to take an 11-3 lead over visiting LIU. Nikolas Miller claimed an 8-3 decision over John Dusza at 197 pounds, while 21st-ranked Keaton Kluever earned his fourth consecutive win with a 21-4 tech fall result against Jared Tracey at 285 pounds. Hofstra continued its winning ways at 125 pounds with a 3-32 decision win for Dylan Acevedo over Robbie Sagaris, and Dylan Ryder earned a 16-3 major decision win over Christopher Betancourt at 133 pounds to up the match score to 15-3 in favor of the Pride.
 
LIU earned major decision wins at 141 and 149 pounds and a decision victory at 157 pounds to put the match score at 15-14. Leading 3-2 in the 165 pound match, Jake Slotnick scored a third period reversal and gained a riding time point against James Johnston to win 6-2 and set the score at 18-14. Ross McFarland sealed the win over the Sharks with an 8-0 major decision win against Corey Connolly in the day's final match at 174 pounds.
 
Hofstra returns to action on February 3 at the Edinboro Open in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. The Pride's next dual match takes place on February 9 at 6 p.m. against EIWA-rival Binghamton.

-McFarland picked up his third win by major decision this season.
-Kluever's tech fall win was his third in four bouts.
