Norman, OK – In the Hofstra softball team's first NCAA Division I Softball Championship appearance since 2018, the Pride took on the back-to-back national champions and top seed in the tournament Oklahoma (52-1) and suffered an 11-0 defeat in five innings. Hofstra's record now stands at 29-26 on the year.
The Sooners scored one in the first inning before adding two more on a two-run home run in the second inning. After another two-run inning in the third, Oklahoma broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning while keeping Hofstra's offense in check and off the board.
Julia Apsel and
Annabella Pisapia combined for two strikeouts against the vaunted Oklahoma lineup.
Anna Butler,
Nikki Mullin, and
Emma Brennan also made appearances for the Pride in the circle.
Hofstra will face Cal (33-20-1) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Eastern/4:30 p.m. Central in an elimination game for both teams.
