Richmond, VA – After a big week at the plate and in the field for the Hofstra softball team,
Alanna Morse has been honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.
A freshman from North Bellmore, New York, Morse claimed Co-Rookie of the Week honors after going 4-12 from the plate with a .333 batting average, with a team-high four runs scored and three RBIs as the Pride went 4-0 on the week. Morse hit .400 in the weekend series against Hampton, tallying three extra base hits against the Lady Pirates. Morse opened the series against Hampton with a 2-4 outing with a double, two runs batted in, and two runs scored in Hofstra's 8-2 win over the Lady Pirates, and she concluded the series by going 2-3 with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI in an 11-1 win, clinching the series sweep for Hofstra.
Morse shares the award with Kristin Toland of Towson. This is the second CAA Rookie of the Week award for Morse, who received her first honor on March 20 after a stellar series performance against Stony Brook.
Morse and the Pride return to action on Wednesday, April 19, against Connecticut, followed by a return to CAA play with a home series against Elon on Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23.
