Aaron Estrada was named a finalist for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award, it was announced today.
The award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in division I college basketball and honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons.
Estrada has earned a slew of awards this season as he was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year last week and also earned All-CAA First Team accolades. A member of the CAA Championship All-Tournament Team, Estrada captured eight different player of the week awards this season.
Heading into the postseason, Estrada is averaging 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. He leads the team in scoring and rebounding and ranks second in assists and steals.
Hofstra is 24-9 overall and awaits its postseason fate on Sunday evening.
