Ostap Kovalenko picked up a win at No 1 singles and
Josh Reynolds and
Kaita Odani won at No. 3 doubles, but the Delaware men's tennis team won its ninth consecutive match in a 6-1 victory over Hofstra Saturday at Point Set Inddor. The Blue Hens moved to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association with the win. Hofstra slipped to 6-5, 0-1 in CAA.
Hofstra claimed the first completed doubles match as Reynolds and Odani posted a 6-2 win over Daniel Krulig and Udayan Bhakar. The Hens top duo of William Wibmer and James Wilkinson defeated
Bo Cautaerts and
Matthew Garcia at No.1 to tie the score at one apiece. In a tough battle in the second flight, Euan Mackenzie and Tobey Lock pulled out the point clinching win in No. 2 doubles, 7-6 (6) over Kovalenko and
Jonathan Mahrt Guyou.
In singles play, Kovalenko defeated Wilkinson at No. 1, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, to give the Pride their lone point.
Hofstra is off until a pair of matches at Columbia on March 25.
