Annapolis, MD - Hofstra dropped a 7-0 decision to the Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy Friday afternoon. The loss was Hofstra's second in a row as the Pride fell to 1-2.
The Mids won each of the three doubles matches with the No 2 team of Herrick Legaspi and Nicholas Nguyen earning a 6-3 win over
Matthew Garcia and
Josh Reynolds in the first match to finish. A 6-3 win by J.J. Etterbeek and Luke Garner over
Jonathan Mahrt Guyou and
Vincent Turina at the No. 3 flight gave Navy the 1-0 lead.
Legaspi made the score 2-0 with his 6-3, 6-1 victory over Garcia at No. 3 singles. Christian Pumpelly followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles against Guyou to make the score 3-0. Nguyen earned the match-clinching fourth team point when he defeated Turina, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
Hofstra returns to action on February 11 versus Quinnipiac. Match time at Point Set Indoor in Oceanside, New York is set for 4 p.m.
