Hofstra Wrestling Announces 2023-24 Team Captains

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Wrestling Coach Dennis Papadatos announced his 2023-24 team captains with Justin Hoyle, Ross McFarland, and Dylan Ryder earning the honors. The trio were selected following a team vote.

"Justin, Ross, and Dylan were chosen by their teammates by an overwhelming majority to serve as team captains," Papadatos said. "They are each outstanding leaders and do all the little things that need to be done in order to be successful, both on the mat and in the classroom."

Hoyle, a graduate student at 141 pounds, is in his fifth-year with the program in 2023-24 and is coming off a 19-win season that saw him earn a seventh-place finish at the EIWA Championships. He also placed at the EIWA's in 2022, finishing eighth, and is a four-time EIWA Academic Achievement Award recipient. 


McFarland, a redshirt junior at 174 pounds, is entering his fourth season woh the Pride and posted 15 wins last season. He also finished seventh at the 2023 EIWA Championships. McFarland is a two-time EIWA Academic Achievement Award recipient. .

Ryder, a senior at 125 pounds, is back with the Pride after sitting out the last two seasons. A two-time EIWA placewinner, Ryder was eighth as a freshman and fifth as a sophomore. He also was an NWCA Scholar All-American following his sophomore campaign and has earned two EIWA Academic Achievement Awards. 

Hofstra will open the 2023-24 season November 5 at the Princeton Open.
