Hofstra Heads To EIWA Foe Binghamton Thursday

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University wrestling team will look to extend its winning streak to three matches when it travels to Binghamton for an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association match Thursday night. Start time at West Gym is 6 p.m.

Hofstra enters the match with a 2-2 record overall and 1-2 in EIWA action. The Pride has won two consecutive duals and is coming off their first EIWA win, 21-12, over Franklin & Marshall this past Saturday. Hofstra won seven weight classes in the dual, all by decision, with #24 Jacob Ferreira (184), #30 Trey Rogers (197), Ross McFarland (174), Zachary Knighton-Ward (285), Justin Hoyle (141), Joe McGinty (157), and Eric Shindel (165) posting victories. 

The Bearcats enter the match with a 3-9 record overall and a 2-2 mark in the EIWA. Binghamton defeated Harvard, 19-13, in their last match. The Bearcats boast a pair of ranked wrestlers in 184-pounder Jacob Nolan, who is ranked #19, and 18th-ranked Cory Day at 285 pounds. 

Hofstra is 11-8 against Binghamton dating back to the 1980-81 season. The Pride defeated Binghamton, 25-11, in the last meeting on January 12, 2020. 

Following the match, Hofstra will remain on the road for a Saturday meeting with Navy at 1 p.m.
