WTEN: Hofstra Posts 6-1 Win Over Binghamton

Box Score Hempstead, NY - Hofstra won the doubles point and then took five of six singles flights to pick up a 6-1 victory over Binghamton Friday afternoon at the Hofstra University Tennis Courts. The Pride improved to 3-9 on the season with the win and snapped a three-match losing streak.

Katherine Kachkarov and April Sanchez started the match with a 6-0 win over Maria Pereira and Abby Ackroyd at second doubles. Deniz Soyer and Mandisa Walle secured the doubles point for the Pride with a 6-1 win over Lara Kaplan and Carerina Casadei at the No. 1 flight.

Kayla Solangnier opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Casadei at No. 2 singles. Kaitlyn Ferguson followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kelly Chen at No. 6 to make the score, 3-0. Following a Binghamton win by Natalia Aruj at No. 4, the Pride clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win by Soyer at No. 3 against Pereira. Ananyaa Bhargava rallied to win in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 10-7) over Ackroyd at No. 5, before Kachkarov closed out the match with a No. 1 singles win (7-5, 6-3) over Kaplan.

Binghamton slipped to 0-20 with the loss.

Hofstra returns to action Saturday (April 9) at 1 p.m. versus Queens College.
