Elon, NC - Top-seeded Charleston won the doubles point and then won three singles flights to post a 4-0 victory over eighth-seeded Hofstra in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championship Friday morning at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
Hofstra sees its season end at 4-12 while the Cougars advance to Saturday's semifinals with a 19-6 record.
Charleston opened the match with a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles with the team of Halli Trinkle and Slade Coetzee defeating the Pride's
Mandisa Walle and
Deniz Soyer. Clara Errard and Kate Earnhardt clinched the point at No. 2 with a 6-2 win over
April Sanchez and
Katherine Kachkarov.
At singles, Charleston picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win by Earnhardt at No. 4 over
Kaitlyn Ferguson to put the Cougars up, 2-0, in the match. Trinkle followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Kayla Solgnier at No. 2 before Errard sealed the win for the Cougars at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Walle.
Charleston will play No. 4 Elon in the CAA semifinals on Saturday at 11 a.m.
