Colorado Springs, Colo. – Four Hofstra student-athletes have been selected as All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year, as announced by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Earning the honor was
Kevin Bruggeman (baseball),
Tim Hegarty (men's lacrosse),
Devyn Losco (softball), and
Charlie Ragault (men's lacrosse).
The All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award program recognizes those collegiate and high school athletes whose athletic accomplishments reflect their dedication to strength training and conditioning.
Bruggeman, a junior catcher on the baseball team is batting .296 for the Pride with 24 hits, four doubles, one triple, and two home runs and is tied for third on the team with 12 RBI this season. Bruggeman holds a personal-best trap-bar deadlift record at 615 pounds and back squat mark of 505 pounds.
Hegarty, a senior captain on the men's lacrosse team, has started all 12 games at defense for the Pride his year. He has picked up nine ground balls, and caused eight turnovers. Hegarty holds a personal-best trap-bar deadlift of 435 pounds and bench press record of 280 pounds.
Losco, the 2018-19 Hofstra Female Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year, is a graduate student catcher on the softball team. Losco is batting .247 this year for Hofstra with 18 hits, two doubles, one triple, one home run, and six RBI. She holds a personal-best back squat record of 265 pounds, hang clean record of 185 pounds, and vertical jump of 26.3 inches.
Ragault, Hofstra's 2020-21 Male Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year, is a senior captain at long-stick midfield on the men's lacrosse team. He has scored two goals on two shots this season, has picked up nine ground balls, and caused two turnovers thus far. Ragault holds a personal-best hang clean record of 315 pounds, bench press mark of 300 pounds, and a 31.3-inch vertical jump personal best.
