Oceanside, NY - Hofstra split the six singles matches but on the doubles point to pick up a 4-3 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn Saturday at Point Set Indoor. The win snapped a three match losing streak for the Pride.
Hofstra moved to 2-6 with the win, while St. Francis slipped to 1-10 with the loss.
Hofstra claimed the doubles point after getting wins by
Kayla Solagnier and
Ananyaa Bhargava at No. 2 and
April Sanchez and
Kaitlyn Ferguson at No. 3. The former posted a 6-1 win over Angelica Hantzis and Lincy Valencia, while the latter won 6-2 over Giovanna Castro and Gaythri Rajesh.
Solagnier earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Mia Skrbinsek, Ferguson had a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 over Margherita Fiorio, and Bhargava had a 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 win over Valentine Mudry at No. 6.
Hofstra is back in action Sunday with a 2 p.m. match at Harvard.
