Zachary Knighton-Ward opened his time at the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships from the Little Caesars Arena with a loss in the first round.
The #31 seed in the 285-lb. bracket, Knighton-Ward was pinned by Arizona State's Cohlton Schultz at 1:25 of the first period. Knighton-Ward's record now stands at 18-8 following the defeat.
Knighton-Ward moves to the consolation bracket, where he will face Taye Ghadiali, the #15-seed from Campbell. Ghadiali was beaten by 4-0 decision to Cornell's Lewis Fernandes.
