Hempstead, NY – Hofstra redshirt senior Zachary Knighton-Ward will represent the Pride at the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships from Detroit, Michigan. The three-day tournament kicks off from Little Caesars Arena on Thursday, March 17.

Session One on Thursday begins at noon, while Session Two begins at 7 p.m. Session One will air on ESPNU, and Session Two will air on ESPN, while every individual match will be streamed live on ESPN 3 and the WatchESPN App. Live results and updates to the official brackets will be available through TrackWrestling. A Uniondale, New York native, Knighton-Ward enters the NCAA Championships as the #31-seed in the 285-lb. bracket with an overall record of 18-7, after placing sixth at the 2022 EIWA Championships. This is Knighton-Ward's third trip to the NCAA Championships, after qualifying as an at-large selection to the 2020 NCAA Championships and earning an auto-bid to the 2021 NCAA Championships.

Knighton-Ward's first round opponent on Thursday will be Cohlton Schultz of Arizona State. Schultz went 18-0 on the year as a redshirt freshman and won his second consecutive Pac-12 title for the Sun Devils. A 2021 NCAA All-American, Schultz heads to Detroit as the second-ranked 285-lb. wrestler by InterMat and the NCAA Coaches' Panel, and he is the #4 wrestler at 285 lbs. by the NCAA RPI standings.

Knighton-Ward and Schultz previously met on the mat back in December at the Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals, and Schultz won by 12-3 major decision over Knighton-Ward.
